We love visiting our beautiful library each week.
We choose a new book to take home and we learn about how libraries work as well.
Look at Althea and Amelia enjoying the library this week.

We really enjoy our Discovery Time.
This week we were learning how to show respect while we were working.
Look at this marvellous creation!  It was made with good manners, sharing and kind words.  What respectful learners!
This is just one of the wonderful things we made this week.

We have been learning about Matariki.
Have a look at the great artwork we did.  It is our families under the seven stars of Matariki.

Farewell to Mrs Millican!
We have loved having Mrs Millican in the classroom.  Thank you, Mrs Millican, for teaching us.
We will miss you and hope you visit us again!!

Look at the wonderful, warm thermals we were given.
Huge thanks to Red Cross as we were able to purchase these snuggly treats with money they gave the school.
Also thanks to The Warehouse.  The generous discount they gave us was very helpful and lots and lots of us were lucky enough receive a thermal.

Hope you enjoy the books we brought home to share this weekend.
Remember to sign the "Two Stars, One Wish" in the back of the poetry book and bring the books back on Monday.

We have been loving our learning about Pasifika.
The Marian College Pasifika group came to perform to us.
They taught us the sasa in some workshops as well.
This was fun!

The Power of Yet

In Room 10 we believe in the power of "Yet".
This means that never say we can't do something, or we aren't good at something, we just can't do something, YET!
Everyone has to learn and try hard to get better at doing things.
We like to say that Room 10 is full of Yetis!

Strike Percussion came to perform to us.
This was lots of fun.  We loved the marimba, the log drums, the cup trick, the fire and Flippy's flip!  Mrs Nilsson and Ms Aitken had to get up and learn to use the drums.
Mrs Nilsson said she even though she wasn't sure how to do it, that was okay.  It just meant she couldn't do it ..... YET!

We had a wonderful time when the Grandparents visited us for afternoon tea.
We loved sharing our learning - and the food too!

We had some clowns visit us.
We had lots of fun .... and in the process learned some new skills and did some great team work.
Look at us, after just a few minutes.  Wow!

Mind Ball from Science Alive visited our school.
We had to try to relax our minds, so our minds could move the ball.
We competed with each other .... but also competed against the machine!
We have lots of great ideas now, so we can hone our skills and get even better at relaxing.

The learners in Room 9 and 10 worked together to make a tapa cloth.
We had watched a clip on the Apple TV to see how it was made.
Then we created a printmaking block and worked in groups to create out master pieces.
We worked so well together .... and there were lots of great conversations happening.

As part of our learning about Pasifika the fabulous Shirley Boys' High School Pasifika group visited Team Totara.  What a wonderful start to our learning!
